Happy 2 months, sweet boy! The weeks are flying by faster and faster, and I am just incredibly grateful that I have a job that allows me to be home with you daily for these first 3 months. You seem to be growing right before our eyes- especially this month! You also appear to be more aware of your surroundings and other people each week. You are tracking people and items more. You also are smiling at us more each day- it's the sweetest thing on earth!

when waiting on Dr. Painter, Parker leaked out of his diaper and spit up milk- both getting all over Spence's shirt. Priceless! |
Height: 23.5 inches (97th percentile)

It seems as though overnight you have grown so much bigger. One day last week you were wearing 0-3 month clothes, and the next day- they were all too small! You are now wearing 3-6 month and 6 month outfits. Today was your 2 month check-up at the pediatrician's office- Dr. Painter was so impressed with you! He thinks you've got to be the best fed cleft lip/palate patient he's ever seen. My side of the family just thinks you must have a lot of "Dutton" in you to be such an eater :)
Bath times are so much fun. You are starting to kick in the tub and splash water. No matter how upset you might be- we put you in the water and you immediately this calm and joy comes over you.

As far as other milestones, you are starting to get a good grip on toys when I place them in your hand. We put you in the Bumbo a few times a day, and you are really doing well with your head control! I joke that we have to do extra neck exercises to help you hold up your "off the charts" head size!
Your daily routine looks like this:
~630am- first feeding of the day, followed by morning prayers, a short story from your children's bible, and 1-2 other books. We then play for ~1 hour on the playmat and talk about numbers, colors, your body parts, and other "stimulating conversation"
-You eat 5oz of breastmilk every 2-4 hours- depending on your alertness/fatigue we either play/nap or just go straight to naptime
-In the afternoon- daily walk or run in the stroller around the neighborhood
~900pm Bath time, followed by prayer time, bible story, and 2 other books
~1000pm Long night sleep time. You've been sleeping about 6 hours in a row at your night time sleep, with a long run of 7 hours! It's about time to start putting you down in your crib for all of your naps/bedtimes!
You light up our world, Parker! Your Dad and I are just so proud of you, and we constantly talk about how blessed we are to have you in our life! You are such a laid back baby, and seem to be content most of the time, with crying only to communicate hunger, a dirty diaper, or loneliness.
On March 13, you are going to have your first surgery on your lip. We will stay one night in the hospital to make sure you tolerate everything well, and then hopefully go home the next day! I know you will be such a trooper and handle it so well. In some strange way, it's sad for us to know that you will look different after the surgery- because we think you are so beautiful just the way you are!
What a great post! You know, Parker is such a lovely young man because his parents show him calm, reassuring love and care every day! What great examples he has of God's love and grace in his parents. I will be praying for you on the 13th. I imagine it will be a bit strange...but nice to pass that milestone as well. Best wishes to you 3!
ReplyDeleteSeriously - Parker has the best parents ever!
ReplyDeletePlease remind us the night before Parker's surgery so we can send up some extra prayers. By the way, who is Maddie? Is Parker dating ALREADY!!!!! That boy is just a younger version of his father.....why I never!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the picture of Jack and Parker! SO cute. :) He is precious! It was so good to see you guys tonight... we can't get enough of ya'll. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so proud of you both and so much enjoy the post on Parker. We will be praying for all of you this week knowing full well that there is no way Parker could be any more beautiful than he already is. Parker is so fortunate to have parents like you and Spence. The love that flows through nearly every post you make is so encouraging and uplifting. Take care and looking forward to hearing about Parkers successful surgical story.
